Inadequate control of reverberation and <strong>background noise</strong> can hinder concentration and learning, leading to stress and fatigue for both students and teachers.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This <strong>case study</strong> examines a primary school classroom with a volume of 123 m³. The simulation involved the installation of <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/single-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-hanging-wall-silente/"><strong>Silente sound-absorbing panels</strong></a>, specifically the following types:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>8 Silente panels measuring 120×120×5 cm, mounted on the ceiling;</li>
<li>2 Silente panels measuring 240x120x5 cm, mounted on the ceiling;</li>
<li>2 Silente panels measuring 120x60x5 cm, mounted to the wall;</li>
<li>1 Silente panel measuring 240x60x5 cm, mounted to the wall.</li>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Before the intervention, the classroom had an <strong>average reverberation time</strong> (Rt) of 1.59 seconds—above the recommended threshold for educational environments. Following the installation of the sound-absorbing panels, the average Rt decreased to 0.57 seconds, accompanied by a 4.42 dB reduction in sound levels.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Effective <strong>acoustic design</strong> significantly enhances sound quality, supporting improved learning and communication. Furthermore, the ability <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/caruso-sound-absorbing-panels-fabrics-colors/"><strong>to customize the panels</strong></a> with colours and printed designs not only improves the aesthetic appeal of the space but also helps create an environment that fosters children&#8217;s development and well-being.</p>

This case study explores an acoustic treatment carried out in a 461 m³ open-plan office. The client requested a workspace redesign that also incorporated improved lighting, aiming to enhance both the acoustic and lighting quality of the space.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>To meet these needs, Caruso Acoustic proposed the installation of 24 <strong>Silente sound-absorbing</strong> panels, suspended 30 cm below the ceiling. Each panel featured integrated LED lighting on the underside.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As can be seen from the graph, the average reverberation time decreased from 2.17 to 0.66 seconds, resulting in a 5.15 dB reduction in sound level. The choice of sound-absorbing solutions with <strong>integrated LED lighting</strong> played a key role in creating a quieter, more comfortable work environment, while eliminating the need for separate lighting fixtures.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Acoustic comfort</strong> is essential for clear listening in <strong>conference spaces</strong>, especially at medium and long distances. This case study presents an <strong>acoustic upgrade</strong> performed in a rectangular conference room with a total volume of about 1073 m³.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In the design phase, the space&#8217;s specific functional requirements were assessed, which revealed an average <strong>reverberation time</strong> (RT) of 3.60 seconds in the unoccupied room, a value too high to ensure clear speech intelligibility.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The simulation using Caruso Acoustic products showed that installing 32 <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/single-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-hanging-wall-silente/"><strong>Silente sound-absorbing panels</strong></a> (16 elements of 240x120x5 cm suspended 30 cm from the ceiling and 16 elements of the same size mounted on the wall) resulted in an effective reduction in reverberation time from 3.60 s to 1.20 s. This also led to a 4.76 dB reduction in overall sound level.<br />

In large spaces, where background noise and reverberation can compromise the <strong>quality of the acoustics</strong>, a specific and targeted intervention is indispensable.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The canteen in the case study has a total volume of 683 m³ and presented an <strong>average reverberation time</strong> (RT) of 2.66 seconds, a high value that contributed to creating a noisy environment.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>To enhance the acoustics, 31 <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/single-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-hanging-wall-silente/"><strong>Silente sound-absorbing panels</strong></a>, each measuring 120x120x5 cm, were installed, suitable for application on both walls and ceilings. The panels are available both in a wall panel version, mounted using an installation kit with track and custom-cut bars, and in a ceiling-hung version with adjustable cables, allowing for flexible configurations by experimenting with different alignments and heights. This versatility enables the panels to be integrated in a flexible and functional way, addressing the specific needs of school settings.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The following graph shows an <strong>improvement in acoustic comfort</strong>: the average reverberation time decreases from 2.66 seconds to 1.18 seconds and the sound level is reduced by 3.51 dB.</p>

In this case study, the objective of the intervention was to reduce reverberation and background noise, as well as to provide an aesthetically pleasing and functional solution to subdivide rooms as required.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The proposed solution involves the installation of <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/double-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-flag/"><strong>38 Flag 120x120x5 cm sound-absorbing panels</strong></a>, suspended from the ceiling by adjustable cables. The versatility of this model, available in various sizes and attachment systems, allows panels to be combined and positioned at different heights, creating partitions that not only <strong>reduce reverberation</strong>, but also define work areas in a dynamic and creative manner.</p>

<p>As can be seen from the graph, the average <strong>reverberation time</strong> (RT) before the intervention was 2.77 seconds, which is too high to guarantee acoustic comfort. After the installation of the Flag panels, the average RT drops to 0.91 seconds, with a sound level reduction of 4.84 dB. This significant reduction in reverberation enhances concentration, speech clarity and overall productivity in the workspace.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Should a different configuration be required, it would be possible to replace or supplement the suspended solution with <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/sound-absorbing-panel-double-side-d-space/"><strong>D-Space panels</strong></a>, free-standing elements useful for creating temporary sound barriers that can be easily relocated as required.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The adoption of <strong>sound-absorbing partitions</strong> is therefore an effective strategy to optimise acoustics in a multi-purpose space, combining technical and aesthetic performance.</p>

More and more companies are also paying attention to aesthetics, seeking solutions that reflect and enhance their corporate brand identity.<br />
This case study shows how both needs can be met by adopting a single solution.</p>

<p>The intervention affected a 109 m³ meeting room, where the high reverberation time (average Tr of 2.55 seconds) compromised speech clarity and meeting effectiveness.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The solution adopted involves the installation of 10 Silente sound-absorbing panels measuring 120x120x5 cm, with adherent application to the ceiling and wall.<br />
As shown in the graph, thanks to this intervention, the reverberation time is reduced to 0.71 seconds, significantly improving sound clarity, with a decrease in sound level of 5.58 dB.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Universities</strong> have been undergoing a profound transformation in recent years, with the adoption of new hybrid teaching and learning modes that combine face-to-face lectures, interactive workshops and distance learning. This change requires university spaces to be better adapted to the needs of <strong>modern teaching</strong>, and acoustics plays a key role in this process.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Traditional academic classrooms, in fact, are often inadequate for accommodating hybrid activities that require a high level of <strong>sound comfort</strong>. Large volumes, reflective surfaces and poor soundproofing create difficult acoustic conditions, with excessive reverberation times and difficulties in understanding speech. Such critical issues may compromise the effectiveness of lessons, whether they are done face-to-face or with distance learning.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This case study examines a 363 m3 <strong>university lecture hall</strong> in need of acoustic correction.</p>

<p>The simulation was carried out by installing <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/single-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-hanging-wall-silente/"><strong>20 Silente 120x120x5 cm sound absorbing panels</strong></a> suspended from the ceiling and <strong>14 panels</strong> of the same type mounted on the wall. This targeted configuration allows for a drastic reduction in the reverberation time, going from 4.85 s to 0.81 s, with a sound level decrease of 7.75 dB.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The result is an <strong>acoustically optimised space</strong> that can best support different teaching methods. Good acoustics enhance learning during lectures, promote discussion and exchange of ideas during workshops and group work and facilitate the recording of multimedia content for distance learning.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In recent years, <strong>contemporary libraries</strong> have evolved into multi-purpose cultural centres, places of study, research and meeting. This evolution has brought with it new challenges, which require an integrated, acoustic comfort-oriented approach to create functional environments suitable for all ages and needs.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In this <strong>case study</strong>, we examine a library consisting of two main rooms: a <strong>reception</strong> <strong>and reading room</strong> measuring 369 m³ and a <strong>study and reading room</strong> for children measuring 143 m³.</p>

<p>Both contexts had significant acoustic critical issues: the reception and reading room area had excessive sound propagation with a <strong>reverberation time</strong> of 1.58 seconds, while the study room had an even more critical situation, with 2.08 seconds of reverberation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Several customised Caruso Acoustic solutions were proposed to maximise <strong>acoustic comfort</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li>30 <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/single-sided-sound-absorbing-panel-dot/"><strong>Dot</strong></a> sound-absorbing panels suspended from the ceiling in the reception and reading room area to reduce the reverberation time to 0.72 seconds (-3.39 dB).</li>
<li>for the study room a combination of 9 suspended <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/sound-absorbing-element-kubo/"><strong>Kubo</strong></a> elements and 2 repositionable freestanding elements (alternatively <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/sound-absorbing-floor-element-menhir/"><strong>Menhir</strong></a> or <a href="https://carusoacoustic.com/us/product/sound-absorbing-panel-double-side-d-space/"><strong>D-Space</strong></a>), to reduce the reverberation time to 0.91 seconds (-3.58 dB)</li>

Repositionable elements make it easy to change the acoustic configuration to suit the various activities that might take place in the room. Thanks to the combined use of different <strong>sound-absorbing solutions</strong>, it was possible to create welcoming and functional spaces, where the silence necessary for concentration coexists harmoniously with the needs for interaction and collaboration typical of contemporary libraries.</p>
