Acoustic comfort in Spas and Wellness centres is fundamental to ensure that customers enjoy using areas dedicated to personal well-being, such as indoor thermal pools, massage rooms, tanning beds and relaxation rooms.
The proposed acoustic redevelopment project involves a large wellness centre; the venue is approximately 5380 m³ in size. During the design phase, the functional requirements of the venue were examined, and a phonometric analysis was subsequently carried out in order to identify the reverberation time present before treatment and the results that could be obtained following the installation of Caruso Acoustic sound-absorbing panels.
The analysis showed an average Reverberation Time (RT) of 4.31 s, with the room unoccupied. Considering the size of the venue in question, the aim was to achieve an unoccupied RT of 2.20 s at an average of 250-2000 Hz to ensure adequate acoustic comfort in the area.
As you can see from the graph, based on the sound absorption coefficient of the products (tested in a reverberation room in accordance with the ISO354 standard), it was possible to determine the precise number of sound-absorbing panels needed to achieve the target. By installing 115 ceiling-mounted Silente panels measuring 240x60x5 cm, the average reverberation time decreased from 4.31 s to 2.23 s, in line with the objectives set.

When planning the layout of a wellness centre, it is important to distribute sound-absorbing material properly: with this corrective project, for example, the Silente panels were installed evenly across the entire ceiling surface. In addition, the installation of extra panels along the perimeter walls to enhance the end result of the treatment can also be evaluated. This was done to ensure that sound is properly distributed throughout the entire area and that acoustic comfort is guaranteed throughout the venue.
