Caruso Acoustic’s solutions for Bibione Thermae (Italy)

Caruso Acoustic sound-absorbing panels were installed at the Bibione Thermae centre (Bibione, Venice), a facility home to thermal pools, saunas, a Turkish bath, dedicated rehabilitation-therapy areas, tanning beds and refreshment services.

The area which houses the indoor thermal pools, characterised by very high ceilings and wide windows and where overlapping sound waves bouncing off various surfaces produce high reverberation times, consequently increasing echo and background noise, was subject to corrective acoustic treatment. In this type of setting, acoustic comfort plays a fundamental role in ensuring that visitors are able to properly enjoy the areas and have a good experience at the centre.

Three different acoustic solutions were supplied: Flag, Dot and Silente panels with Stratocell® Whisper® sound-absorbing material to satisfy the specific requirements of the products’ intended use.
Suspended versions of the Flag and Silente panels were selected and installed at different distances from the ceiling, creating a striking geometric effect. Furthermore, combining the two products, positioned vertically and horizontally, made it possible to intercept sound waves from many sides and prevent them from propagating.
By the edge of the pool and along the perimeter, additional Silente panels were fixed to the walls and a number of Dot panels in various sizes were also installed.

In terms of colour, the desire to evoke the light shades of the bottom of the pool and the mosaics on the walls inspired the design choice. The pastel shades chosen for the acoustic panels’ upholstery fabric helped create a colour combination which, alongside the various shapes of the panels, provided exceptional visual balance. This, together with the technical and functional qualities of the products, culminated in a refined setting with exceptional acoustic comfort.
