Acoustic comfort in hotels: breakfast room and restaurant

Project: Acoustic treatment of a hotel breakfast room and restaurant
Size of the room: 360 m³
Acoustic issues: High reverberation times and background noise

In accommodation establishments, mealtimes are one of the most important elements affecting customer satisfaction. For this reason, the breakfast and dining rooms of a hotel must be welcoming, functional and acoustically comfortable.

The proposed case study refers to a breakfast room and restaurant of a hotel, a room of about 360 m³ adjacent to the reception and lounge area.
In the first instance, acoustic measurements were carried out with the aim of identifying reverberation times in the room and assessing the most effective acoustic solution.
The noise analysis resulted in a reverberation time (Tr) of 2.43 s at an average of 250-2000 Hz, and a Tr of 0.70 s was set as a target.
The designers identified Silente suspended sound-absorbing panels as the most suitable solution for the context. By inserting 44 Silente panels – 22 of which measure 215x60x5 cm and 22 of which measure 180x60x5 cm – suspended 30 cm from the ceiling, it was possible to reduce the sound level by 5.39 dB, obtaining an average Tr of 0.70s.

The panels can also be integrated with efficient LED lighting systems, improving visual comfort.

Thanks to the wide range of customisations, it is possible to adapt the acoustic panels to the furnishings and environments with suggestive colour combinations or upholstery-fabric prints with images or patterns of interest.
