A good acoustic comfort is crucial in office environments for employee well-being and work efficiency. However, many workspaces are not designed properly and can be quite noisy, causing stress and discomfort to workers. In newer buildings, offices often have suspended ceilings to conceal the passage of ducts. In these cases, one way to improve acoustics is to install sound-absorbing panels directly on the ceiling to reduce noise levels and make the room more comfortable.
The proposed acoustic correction project refers to an office of approximately 130 m3. Reverberation times (RT) were found to be too high in relation to the intended use of the rooms. Phonometric analyses showed that installing 9 Silente sound-absorbing panels measuring 120x120x5 cm to the ceiling would decrease RT from 1.15 s to 0.63 s (frequencies 250-2000 Hz) with a sound level reduction of 2.60 dB. Silente panels are also available in a suspended version by means of vertically adjustable steel cables, providing ample versatility and flexibility in installation.

In conclusion, the use of sound absorbing panels in an office with a suspended ceiling can be an effective way to reduce noise levels. Caruso Acoustic offers a wide range of highly customisable acoustic solutions to respond effectively to various design requirements.
