Caruso Acoustic has recently completed the installation of its sound-absorbing panels at the prestigious, renowned Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School in Greenford, Middlesex, UK.
The project was carried out with particular regard to the structural shape and intended use of the room, a classroom on the mezzanine floor dedicated to individual study and computer activities. Maximum attention was paid to reducing reverberation times and improving general acoustic comfort, which are fundamental requirements for properly carrying out the activities the hall is intended for.
The solution devised by the designers involved the installation of Flag acoustic baffles, in the suspended version, and Silente sound-absorbing panels adhering to the ceiling, both with integrated LED lighting systems.
The flexibility and versatility of the Flag panel fixing system – using adjustable cables – made it possible to align the sound-absorbing products with the rows of seating, placing them at an optimal distance from the ceiling. In addition, the LED lighting system, specially designed to be integrated into the lower part of the panel, enabled the right lighting for the student desks, without the need for additional supporting lighting.
From an aesthetic point of view, the existing finishing materials led to the choice of a dark shade for the upholstery fabric, creating a pleasant contrast with the light oak texture of the desks.
The project was supervised and developed by the architectural firm Annette Peters Design Ltd and Syntec Projects Limited, in collaboration with Woodwood Group and the company.
