Founded in Milan in 1926, the Italian Federation of Ice Sports (F.I.S.G.) has served as a cornerstone for ice disciplines in Italy for nearly a century. Its headquarters in Milan, the operational hub of the Federation, recently underwent an acoustic improvement project aimed at enhancing comfort and well-being within office spaces.
The offices feature large, naturally lit open-plan areas with multiple workstations divided by glass partitions. While these partitions provide a sense of openness, they also pose challenges for acoustic performance. To mitigate these issues, Caruso Acoustic supplied and installed Silente sound-absorbing panels, applied to both the ceilings and walls.
The ceiling-mounted panels were aligned with the orientation of the workstations to optimize sound absorption and reduce reverberation caused by simultaneous sound sources. Wall-mounted panels further enhance acoustic correction, limiting sound propagation between work areas and supporting concentration and productivity throughout the day.
The installation also included Menhir sound-absorbing totems—versatile, freestanding solutions that can be easily repositioned to suit operational needs or changing spatial configurations.
The ochre fabric finish selected for the panels adds a warm and contemporary accent, integrating seamlessly with the office’s neutral and bright interior while enhancing its visual identity.
