22The “Il Pertini” Cultural Centre in Cinisello Balsamo (Milan) is a cornerstone of the city’s social and cultural life. Designed by the DOIT Associated Architects studio, the building stands on the site of the former Luigi Cadorna primary school and, following a long transformation process that began in 2001, it has become a place for gathering and learning—home to areas dedicated to study, reading, events, and recreational activities.
In this context, Caruso Acoustic has carried out an acoustic correction project in two highly frequented areas: the periodicals library and the cafeteria.
In the periodicals library, where focused reading and a quiet atmosphere are essential, Silente panels were installed flush-mounted on the walls. Covered in neutral grey fabric, the panels integrate discreetly into the room, ensuring effective reverberation control and fostering a calm and functional study environment.
In the cafeteria, on the other hand, the project involved the installation of suspended Silente panels with integrated LED spotlights. This choice addresses the dual need to reduce background noise, typical of social spaces, while also incorporating a lighting solution. The result is a welcoming environment that is both functional and visually coherent with the contemporary style of the cultural centre.
This intervention confirms Caruso Acoustic’s ability to develop customised solutions that combine acoustic performance, functionality, and aesthetics in complex spaces with strong architectural value.
