Caruso Acoustic is beginning 2016 by renewing its solid commitment to working on the market in an environmentally sustainable way, adopting policies to improve the entire production chain.

Caruso Acoustic sound-absorbing panels are made from a metal frame with internal sound-absorbing material and then covered with upholstery fabric.

Polyester (Oeko-Tex certified) has been chosen for the upholstery fabric: a fully recyclable material that lets us preserve our natural resources and cut down on waste. Widely used in the textile industry, polyester is a breathable fabric that does not absorb moisture and is very resistant and elastic.

The frame supporting the internal sound-absorbing material is made from steel and is therefore recyclable.

The sound-absorbing material is available in Whisper® by Stratocell® which, when combined with the other elements of the panel, offers a fully recyclable finished product. Made from polyethylene foam, this material provides high acoustic performance so less material is required, which thereby optimises its applications and cuts down on waste. This material is waterproof and does not require a protective coating against moisture; it is flexible, self-supporting and complies with current fire safety regulations.

As an alternative to Whisper, Caruso Acoustic offers Basotect® by Basf®, an environmentally sustainable material made without the use of halogenated hydrocarbons or toxic heavy metals. Product components made from melamine resin also weigh less, which helps to lower emissions during transportation. Another important characteristic of melamine resin is that it complies with major international fire safety regulations given that it is a thermosetting material.
To operate in an environmentally friendly way to provide environmentally sustainable products: this is the goal which Caruso Acoustic intends to pursue again this year, lowering the environmental impact of its production.
